Wingate’s Kara Stasikelis Named Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Wingate University's Kara Stasikelis has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 21, announced conference officials Tuesday.

Stasikelis, a senior from Greenville, S.C. (J.L. Mann HS), went undefeated in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles action on the week, leading the Bulldogs to three key conference victories as No. 39 Wingate improved to 14-1 overall and 5-0 in the SAC.

She started the week with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Catawba's Kasia Zielinski. She rallied to defeat Tusculum's Courtney Conley, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, in Wingate's 7-2 victory. She also defeated Carson-Newman's Taryn Cappadona, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles action, Stasikelis and Kelli Ferguson defeated Catawba's Zielinski and Nicole Boyle, 8-1; Tusculum's Conley and Taylor Patterson, 8-5; and Carson-Newman's Cappadona and Stefy Stand, 8-3.
