SUMTER, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The No. 11 Queens University of Charlotte Royals took home the 2022 SAC Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-2 win over the No. 12 Wingate Bulldogs Saturday (April 23).

Wingate jumped out to a 1-0 lead, winning the doubles points with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

The Royals took care of business during singles play, picking up wins at No. 1 singles by Viktorija Veselinova (6-2, 7-6) and No. 2 singles by Jill Mores (6-3, 7-6) to take a 2-1 lead.

Wingate's Flaminia Guidantoni made it a 2-2 match with a win at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-1), but Queens picked up a win at No. 4 singles by Marie Balanda (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) to regain the lead.

Queens' Katya Khramtcova clinched the match and the title at No. 6 singles with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory. In addition to clinching the match, Khramtcova was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

In addition to the tournament title, the Royals earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Regional Championship.
