Wingate Captures 2023 SAC Women's Tennis Championship with 4-1 Over Tusculum
SUMTER, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Wingate Bulldogs took home the 2023 SAC Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-1 win over the Tusculum Pioneers on Saturday (April 22).
Wingate jumped out to a 1-0 lead, winning the doubles points with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Bulldogs took care of business in the singles portion of the match winning matches at No. 1, No. 4, and No. 5 singles.
Tusculum's Valentina Loretz picked up the lone win at No. 6 for the Pioneers.
Wingate's Chloe Kosmrlj earned the tournament's Most Valuable Player award, after going 2-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles during the tournament.
In addition to the tournament title, the Bulldogs earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Regional Championship.
