WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week Announced for Week Eight

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during week eight of the 2024 season. Carson-Newman's Emerson Ahsmuhs was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Mars Hill's Katilyn Grant brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Ahsmuhs, a freshman from Placentia, Calif., set career highs in hitting percentage in back-to-back wins against Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne last week. She had 14 kills and hit .444 in a 3-1 win over Newberry and then had 15 kills and hit .467 in a sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne to hand the Bears just their second conference loss of the season. She finished the week with 29 kills, 4.14 kills per set and hit .456.  

Grant, a sophomore from Alabaster, Ala., led the Lions to a 3-0 week with wins over Georgia College and back-to-back wins over Catawba. Grant finished the week with 14 total blocks, 1.27 blocks per set. She had four total blocks against Georgia College and then five in each win over the Catawba Indians.
