WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week Announced for Week Ten

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during week ten of the 2024 season. Anderson's Libby Nieporte was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Wingate's Maddie Hoffman brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Niepote, a senior from Boca Raton, Fla., led Anderson to a pair of crucial wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Lincoln Memorial last week. She averaged 3.57 kills per set and totaled 25 kills in the two wins, while adding 3.43 digs per set. She recorded a double-double of 15 kills and 18 digs in a 3-1 win over the Bears where she added three service aces. She came back to notch 19 kills and six digs in a sweep of the Railsplitters. For the week, she hit .288.

Hoffman, a junior from Fenton, Mo., anchored a WU defensive effort that helped the 'Dogs hold opponents under .040 in two of the three matches as Wingate stretched their winning streak to 15 and clinched at least a share of the regular season SAC title for the 18th time in the last 19 seasons. Hoffman piled up 45 digs in just 8 sets of action, adding 7 assists and 5 aces while also notching a pair of kills. Hoffman had 19 digs in the sweep over Limestone, adding four assists and an ace as WU held the Saints to a .105 hitting percentage. She picked up 18 digs in the big sweep at Mars Hill Friday, adding 2 assists. Hoffman wrapped up her week with 8 digs in just 2 sets at Newberry. Hoffman added 4 aces on the day to go along with a kill and an assist.
