The South Atlantic Conference Announces 2021 Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll and Runners to Watch List
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) - Queens was voted as the favorite to win the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country title for the fourth year in a row, the league office announced today.
The Royals, who have won four straight SCA Women's Cross Country Championships, received 12 first place votes and tallied 156 points in the poll.
Wingate, No. 2 in the poll, snagged the lone remaining first-place nod and collected 144 points.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson tied for No. 3 in the poll with 127 points each.
Catawba claimed fifth in the preseason poll with 115 points. Tusculum earned the No. 6 spot in the poll with 98 points, followed by Carson-Newman at No. 7 with 91 points.
Lincoln Memorial took the No. 8 spot with 73 points. Mars Hill was No. 9 in the poll, earning 71 points from the coaches.
In the No. 10 spot was Newberry with 53 points, while Limestone (46 points), Coker (40 points), and UVA Wise (29 points) wrapped up the preseason ranking at No. 11, No. 12, and No. 13, respectively.
In addition to the preseason coaches poll, the SAC also released its 2021 Women's Cross Country Runners to Watch list. Below is the full list of runners to watch by team during the 2021 season.
The 2021 season will get underway on Friday, September 3.
