Catawba's Clay Named Region Runner of the Year, Anderson's Eagle Named Region Coach of the Year; Fourteen Named Runners Earn All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – All-Region Teams, Regional Athletes, and Coaches of the Year for the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the season.

Many of these athletes and coaches will end their season next Friday at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in University Place, Washington.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

SOUTHEAST REGION RUNNER OF THE YEAR— Madison Clay — Catawba

Clay, who hails from Morgantown, North Carolina, won the individual title at the Southeast Region Championships in 21:35.7. Earlier in the season, Clay took top individual honors at the SAC Cross Country Championships and the Converse Kick-Off.

SOUTHEAST REGION COACH OF THE YEAR — Kevin Eagle — Anderson (S.C.)

Eagle, in his sixth year as head coach at Anderson (S.C.), led the Trojans to a runner-up finish at the Southeast Region Championships with 88 points. Anderson was also team runner-up at the SAC Cross Country Championships with 53 points and won the team title at the Converse Kick-Off with 35 points.

ALL-REGION
