Wingate Wins Fourth Straight SAC Women's Cross Country Championship; Clay Earns Third Straight SAC Runner of the Year Award
NEWBERRY, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – For the fourth straight season, the Wingate Bulldogs were crowned the South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Champions. Wingate had all five runners finish in the top 11 to win the championship.
For the third straight year, Catawba's Madison Clay was named the Runner of the Year. Clay blazed through the 6K course in 21:26.23 as the junior has gone three-for-three in conference Runner of the Year accolades.
Lincoln Memorial's Jacie Begley was named the SAC Freshman of the Year, finishing 14th overall with a time of 22:28.24.
After Wingate's winning team score of 27, Catawba came in second with 61 and were followed by Lincoln Memorial with 84.
Catawba's Jason Bryan was named the SAC Women's Coach of the Year.
The NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country meet, which is hosted in Spartanburg, S.C., will take place on Thursday, November 7.
