ROCK HILL, S.C. – Top-seeded Catawba and second-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne have advanced to the 2025 SAC Baseball Championship Series next weekend in Asheboro. The Catawba Indians swept through the bracket in Salisbury with a perfect 3-0 weekend, while the Bears did the same in the bracket in Hickory to set up a showdown between the SAC's top two seeds.
Catawba rolled through Bracket One in Salisbury with a flawless 3-0 performance. The Catawba Indians opened with an 8-4 win over Newberry on Friday, then followed with a 5-2 victory against Limestone in Saturday's winner's bracket game. On Sunday, they punched their ticket to the final by defeating Limestone again, this time 8-3. The Indians outscored their opponents 21-9 over the three-game stretch and will play in the SAC Championship Series for the first time since 2022.
Lenoir-Rhyne was equally impressive in Bracket Two, which took place on their home field in Hickory. The Bears edged UVA Wise 5-4 on Friday, then knocked off Wingate 8-2 on Saturday morning. LR secured its spot in the final with a dominant 12-3 win over Carson-Newman in Sunday's championship game. The Bears outscored their opponents 25-9 and return to the SAC title series for the second time in three years.
The 2025 SAC Baseball Championship Series is set for McCrary Park in Asheboro, N.C. Game one will take place Friday, May 9 at 4 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday, May 10 at 12 p.m. If necessary, a decisive game three will be played later that day at 4 p.m.
