The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Sept. 28

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate forward Jon Ander and Brevard goalkeeper Heath Turner have been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week for games played Sept. 21-27, the League announced today.

Ander, a sophomore from Bilbao, Spain finished the week with three goals and six points after recording his first career hat trick, leading the 16th-ranked Bulldog's to a 2-0 record against Conference opponents. Wingate's 5-0 SAC win against Queens saw the forward net his first collegiate hat trick where he scored the game-winner three minutes into the first half, and notched his second goal 12 minutes later, propelling Wingate to a 2-0 lead. Ander completed the hat trick at 70 minutes, securing the first-place Bulldogs to victory. Ander is tied for first in the conference in goals with five, and is second in points at 12. The award is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.

Turner, a junior from Kansas City, Mo., had 12 saves and a .923 save percentage on the week in 200 minutes of action in League play. He matched a career-high 12 saves in a double overtime 0-0 tie against Mars Hill and extended Brevard's unbeaten streak to a program-best three matches, all in Conference. This is Turner's first Player of the Week nod this season.
