The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Jan. 23
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman forward Mika Wester has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 16-22, the League announced today.
Wester, a sophomore from Newport, Tenn., posted a combined 52 total points in wins against Anderson and Newberry last week. Wester scored 25 points against the Trojans helping Carson-Newman to an 83-66 victory on January 18th. Three days later, Wester really caught fire against Newberry scoring 27 points while connecting on three-of-five shots from beyond the arc and a perfect 100 percent from the free throw line in an 83-73 victory. Shooting no worse than 45.5 percent in either contest, Wester combined for an average of 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. This award marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
