The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 9
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Charles Clark has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 2-8, the League announced today.
Clark, a freshman from Murfreesboro, Tenn., averaged 19.0 points per game to lead the Eagles to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week, including a win over No. 1 Lincoln Memorial. At Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 4, he poured in 30 points on 11-of-17 from the floor, two from downtown and 6-of-7 at the line in the 87-72 win. Clark also corralled three boards and posted two blocked shots against the Railsplitters. Three days later at Lenoir-Rhyne, Clark scored six of his eight points in an 8-2 run over the final two minutes of the contest to secure the Eagles' 56-53 win. He also chipped in eight rebounds, three assists and a steal against the Bears. The victory marked the first win for the Eagles at Shuford Memorial Gym since the 2010-11 season. The award is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
