The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 1

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Maelyn Head has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 25-31, the League announced today.

Head, a junior from Greeneville, Tenn., averaged 18.7 points per game and shot 71 percent from downtown and 52 percent from the floor to lead her squad to three South Atlantic Conference wins last week.  She highlighted her week with a career-best 27 points on 54 percent from the floor, 71 percent from long range and 8-of-10 from the line in an 82-73 overtime win over Wingate on Jan. 30.  Head also chipped in two rebounds and two assists in the win over the Bulldogs.  Head got her week started with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists as Tusculum picked up a 71-68 win over Catawba on Jan. 27 and followed that performance with 13 points, two steals, two assists and a rebound in Tusculum's 71-57 win at Brevard on Jan. 27.  The award is her first Player of the Week nod this season.
