The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Feb. 8

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba guard Bri Johnson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 1-7, the League announced today.

Johnson, a junior from Statesville, N.C., averaged 25.5 points per game to lead the Catawba Indians to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week.  She poured in 20 points to go along with five rebounds, one block and one steal in a 75-62 win over Lenoir-Rhyne on Feb. 3.  She followed that effort with a career-best 31 points on 60 percent from the floor and 63 percent from downtown as Catawba defeated Carson-Newman 82-78 on the road.  Johnson also chipped in three rebounds and one steal in the win.  Johnson tops her squad with 16.4 points per game as the two wins helped the Catawba Indians stay in the hunt for a SAC tournament bid.  The honor is her second Player of the Week plaudit this season.
